Hello!
There are seasons when self-introspection feels effortless — reflection flows, clarity arrives, and insight feels close at hand. And then there are seasons when you don't know where to begin.
This reflection is for those quieter moments.

Healing the Woman Who Learned to Perform
Coming home to a self that does not have to earn her place.
"Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God?"
Galatians 1:10
Some of us learned very young that being loved required being useful. So we became useful. We became the reliable one, the calm one, the one who did not need much. We got praised for a version of ourselves that was, quietly, a costume.
The healing here is not to become the opposite of useful. It is to notice, without shame, when usefulness is functioning as insurance. You do the thing because it is right and because you are afraid of what will happen if you do not. That second half is the part God is inviting you to lay down.
Journaling meets this work well. On the page, no one is watching. On the page, you can write the sentence you are not allowed to say out loud yet — I am tired of being the strong one, or I want to be chosen without having to earn it — and let it exist as a real, allowable feeling.
Healing the performer is not a single decision. It is many small ones. Saying no once. Resting without narrating the rest. Letting someone see you before you have arranged yourself for them. Every one of those is a stitch closing a wound you did not choose but do get to tend.
You are not less loved when you are not performing. You may only now be discovering what being loved actually feels like.
